What Diseases Are Treated with Infusion Therapy?

IV Therapy Treatment for Neurological Conditions

Infusion therapy can help manage and treat a wide variety of neurological conditions. By delivering medication in a controlled manner via IV or injection for effective results, we can provide relief from symptoms like muscle spasms, tremors, headaches, epilepsy, and more.

The Smart Infusion team has extensive experience in providing infusion therapy for a variety of neurological conditions, including:

Multiple Sclerosis

We are equipped to deliver medications to help reduce the progression of MS.

  • Tysabri: Tysabri is an IV infusion therapy approved for the treatment of adult patients with relapsing forms of multiple sclerosis.
  • Ocrevus: Ocrevus (Ocrelizumab) is a medication used for the treatment of multiple sclerosis. It is a
humanized anti-CD20 monoclonal antibody. It targets CD20 markers on B lymphocytes and is an
immunosuppressive drug. Ocrevus is prescribed to treat relapsing forms of multiple sclerosis (MS), including clinically isolated syndrome, relapsing-remitting disease, active secondary progressive disease, and primary progressive MS, in adults.

  • Ocrevus Zunovo: Ocrevus Zunovo is the first and only twice-a-year 10-minute subcutaneous injection for people with relapsing and progressive multiple sclerosis

  • Briumvi: Briumvi is indicated for the treatment of relapsing forms of multiple sclerosis (MS), to include clinically isolated syndrome, relapsing-remitting disease, and active secondary progressive disease, in adults. Briumvi is a 1-hour, 450 mg intravenous (IV) infusion given every 24 weeks following the starting dose.

Alzheimer’s

Infusion therapy can help patients with Alzheimer’s to help slow the progression of early Alzheimer’s disease.
Leqembi and Kisunla are given as an intravenous infusion that targets the different types of harmful amyloid proteins before they form into brain plaque.  Also helps remove existing amyloid brain plaque.

Chronic Migraine

Our team delivers effective infusion treatment to help patients find relief from chronic migraines.

  • Vyepti: Vyepti is an IV infusion therapy for chronic migraines. It reduces the frequency and intensity of headaches, allowing those suffering from chronic migraines to lead a more productive life. Vyepti works by targeting and blocking hormones and proteins that triggers migraine headaches.

Myasthenia Gravis

Infusion therapy can help patients with myasthenia gravis to regain muscle function and find relief from their symptoms.

  • Vyvgart works by blocking certain receptors from binding with harmful AChR antibodies which are responsible for triggering the symptoms of myasthenia gravis, resulting in a reduction of symptoms.
  • Ultomiris works by binding to the complement protein C5 to block its activation and remove it from the bloodstream. It is administered every one to two months,  providing a more managed approach to controlling myasthenia gravis symptoms.
  • Soliris works by interrupting the antibody-mediated attack on acetylcholine receptors in the muscles. The medication needs to be given every two weeks in order to maintain its effectiveness, but it is proven to reduce symptoms associated with MG.

Our highly trained registered nurses will provide safe and attentive care every step of the way.
